Since 2001, the Europa Collection has been the backbone of Zephyr Ventilation. Combining European design with American performance, Europa has always delivered un-equaled performance and unrivaled value.

Through the years this has remained our core strength but the time has to come to evolve the designs that Zephyr made iconic and offer a new paradigm in range hood performance.

All Next Generation Europa range hoods are equipped with the unique and proprietary DCBL Suppression SystemTM that improves performance, reduces noise and increases energy efficiency. The first line of range hoods to offer this unique technology package, Next Generation Europa, once again, redefines what a range hood can be and sets the innovation bar higher than ever before.

 

Zephyr’s DCBL Suppression System™ (pronounced Decibel) uses a direct current brushless motor, or DCBL, that increases the range hood’s efficiency and reduces noise and energy consumption.

DCBL Suppression System™ is the industry’s first DC energy motor. Using a DC motor gives us the ability to increase torque at lower speeds settings, or working speed. This provides increased CFM levels and lower noise levels simultaneously. Using a DC motor also allows us to reduce energy consumption at dramatic levels.

DCBL Suppression™ technology uses a permanent magnet design that allows energy to be conducted without brushes or metal contacts that cause heat and friction – the main perpetrators of parts failure, noise and wasted energy.

The result is a range hood experience that is more powerful at working speed levels and nearly inaudible.

Designed in partnership with commercial camera lens designers, Bloom™ HD LED light bulbs amplify a 3-watt diode into a 20-watt halogen-like light that evenly distributes light on the cooking surface. Bloom™ are the only range hood LED light bulbs with near-halogen light warmth and remain cool to the touch regardless of how long they are in use.

Bloom HD LEDs™ have a 68-year lifetime when used for one hour a day. Every day. They are the only LED bulbs on the market that are dimmable and the one-inch heat sink dissipates heat away from the LED ensuring high fidelity performance over time.

Zephyr’s DCBL Suppression System™ is not possible without an on-board computer to facilitate the conversion from AC energy to DC energy and manage the range hood’s diagnostics and efficiency.

DCBL’s™ on-board computer, its nerve center, is a sophisticated blend of switch circuitry, LED and DC controllers and diagnostic center that keeps the entire system finely tuned to provide peak performance at nearly inaudible levels on working speed and non-intrusive sound quality at maximum speed.

Pre-programmed with RPM, wattage and performance logic, the on-board computer is able to precisely direct a predetermined and stable amount of energy to the hood’s motor to make sure that it performs as it was intended to perform regardless of performance degrading factors like increased static pressure from poorly ducted installations. It is this applied precision that allows DCBL Suppression™ the ability to increase torque at lower speed levels in order to measurably increase CFM levels and perceptibly reduce noise.

An advanced combination of miniaturized computer boards, and bulkier DC and LED controller, DCBL’s™ on-board computer is the first-of-its-kind in range hood technology and is the result of a painstaking research and development process 18 months in the making. 

While vastly superior to the competition throughout the entire performance spectrum, DCBL Suppression System™ really shines on working speed levels.

Traditionally defined as the speed closest to 100 CFM, working speed takes on an entirely new meaning under DCBL Suppression™ technology. CFM and BTU pairings are always matched at maximum speed settings that rarely reflect how you normally work with your range and range hood appliances. Understanding that most homeowners typically use one or two burners working at half capacity or less, we’ve front-loaded the speed one level with 250 CFM working at 0.8 sones – that’s the equivalent of a soft whisper and lower than a refrigerator humming.

Of course, should you need the full force of the 715 CFM motor, DCBL Suppression System™ delivers un-intrusive performance through its 6-speed LCD display control switch.

Technology is nothing and upgrades are meaningless if they don’t improve the performance of the product and the life of the homeowner. DCBL Suppression System™ is neither gimmick nor trick. Its performance and features have been thoroughly tested and has been approved by UL authorities so we can be certain that it will perform exactly how we claim it will.
