Zephyr Ventilation, the industry leader in ventilation hood design, innovation, and technology, launches its third annual “Zephyr Upgrade” Photo Contest. The Social Media campaign encourages fans to upload a photo of their old range hood on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for a chance to win a Zephyr range hood, among other prizes.

From September 6th – 18th, participants enter a photo and short caption that explains why they need a new hood via a custom Facebook tab or on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #ZephyrUpgrade. Following the entry period, contest participants and their social networks can vote on their favorite photo from September 19th – 30th (one vote per person).

Zephyr and Build.com will select the Grand Prize winner from the top 10 most voted entries based on creativity and how bad the owner truly needs an upgrade. The Grand Prize winner receives a Zephyr ventilation hood of their choice, the first runner-up with the most votes receives a hood from Zephyr’s Essentials Collection, the second runner-up with the second most votes receives a hood from Zephyr’s Power Series Collection, and five winners selected at random throughout the contest receive an Element Portable Gas Grill (designed by Zephyr’s Arc Collection designer, Robert Brunner).

“We’re excited to partner with Build.com again for our Zephyr Upgrade Photo Contest,” says Sarah Wahl, Director of Marketing. “This contest supports our message of the importance of a high-performance kitchen ventilation hood, and it’s always fun to see the photo entries and engage with our fans.”

Zephyr Launches Cypress and Willow Outdoor Ventilation Hoods

Zephyr Launches Cypress and Willow Outdoor Ventilation Hoods

New Features Include Increased Depth, Improved Exterior, More Ventilation Power, and New Material To Withstand Extreme Heat And Moisture

Designing an outdoor kitchen requires a lot of the same thought and components as the indoor kitchen, such as: location, appliances, plumbing, electrical components, cabinetry, and ventilation. Zephyr, the leader in ventilation hood design, innovation and technology, launches Cypress and Willow outdoor hoods, now with increased depth, improved exterior, more ventilation power, and new features to withstand extreme heat and moisture.

Do I really need an outdoor ventilation hood?

Outdoor cooking has transitioned to outdoor entertaining and guests are interacting and eating in closer proximity to the barbecue, with more exposure to smoke, grease, and odors. If the outdoor grill is located under a combustible covered structure, a powerful outdoor range hood is necessary and often times, building codes may require a hood be installed.

The outdoor hood functions the same as they do indoors, extracting all of the unnecessary components and keeping the outdoor kitchen, furniture (and your guests!), clean and grease-free. Including a range hood in the beginning of the outdoor kitchen build-out will undoubtedly be more cost effective than waiting until later when walls, countertops, and siding have become discolored and damaged from smoke exposure.

Why Zephyr?

Zephyr’s new Cypress outdoor hood combines form and function with its seamlessly contoured, fully welded and polished marine grade exterior. Its extended 32-inch depth provides even more capture over professional, powerful outdoor grills; offering more coverage than traditional outdoor range hoods. The corrosion-resistant stainless steel canopy houses high-performance professional stainless steel baffle filters that enhance airflow and are dishwasher-safe. Three-speed metallic knob controls withstand extreme temperatures and natural elements, and dual-level halogen lighting illuminates the grill when cooking after dark. An optional 304 grade 12-inch duct cover is also available. The Cypress is available with a 1,200-CFM blower in: 36-, 42-, 48-, and 54-inch widths.

Willow outdoor pro-style hood features a 1000-CFM blower that won’t give in to the elements or the heat of outdoor gas grills. The outdoor hood is available in either 304-grade corrosion-resistant stainless steel or galvanized steel with gray powder-coat protection. High performance stainless steel, dishwasher-safe baffle filters are also included and two-speed, marine-grade rocker controls withstand extreme heat and moisture. Optional, easy-to-install liners are available in 36-, 42-, 48-, 54-, and 60-inch widths. New depth ranges include: 26.5-, 29.5-, 20.5-, and 23.5-inches (adjustable depth also available).

“Homeowners are blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living, and this primarily centers around the kitchen,” says Luke Siow, Zephyr President. “What used to be an afterthought in indoor kitchen design, the range hood is now the centerpiece and a critical component when selecting appliances. We’re seeing this trend now in the outdoor kitchen as well, and are happy to provide consumers with two powerful outdoor range hood options.”

2016 Architectural Digest Design Show

Zephyr exhibited at the 2016 Architectural Digest Show, which was held in New York City at Pier 92/94 and drew more than 40,000 attendees. We co-sponsored a reFresh media tour and our Cheng Collection designer, Fu-Tung Cheng, presented on Zephyr’s Design, Innovation and Technology. In addition, we participated in a progressive KBTribeChat Twitter event in our booth where designers and industry professionals that are part of the tribe came together to discuss trends at the show and new product launches. All of Zephyr’s products were a huge hit, especially the in-ceiling Lux Island hood pictured below!

Customization and Color

“This year, blue is very on trend. Blue is a color that’s classic but somehow always manages to look fresh. It’s really hard to go wrong with blue,” Margaret Russell (Architectural Digest, Editor in Chief).

Big Chill, La Cornue, Blue Star, and others showcased blue appliances and product options. And many other exhibitors showcased products in this cool, trendy hue.

More Personality in the Home

Consumers are taking more risks with their design choices and not just playing it safe. We noticed a lot of bold patterns, bright colors, and innovative accessories for adding personality to the home.
