2016 Architectural Digest Design Show

Zephyr exhibited at the 2016 Architectural Digest Show, which was held in New York City at Pier 92/94 and drew more than 40,000 attendees. We co-sponsored a reFresh media tour and our Cheng Collection designer, Fu-Tung Cheng, presented on Zephyr’s Design, Innovation and Technology. In addition, we participated in a progressive KBTribeChat Twitter event in our booth where designers and industry professionals that are part of the tribe came together to discuss trends at the show and new product launches. All of Zephyr’s products were a huge hit, especially the in-ceiling Lux Island hood pictured below!

Customization and Color

“This year, blue is very on trend. Blue is a color that’s classic but somehow always manages to look fresh. It’s really hard to go wrong with blue,” Margaret Russell (Architectural Digest, Editor in Chief).

Big Chill, La Cornue, Blue Star, and others showcased blue appliances and product options. And many other exhibitors showcased products in this cool, trendy hue.

More Personality in the Home

Consumers are taking more risks with their design choices and not just playing it safe. We noticed a lot of bold patterns, bright colors, and innovative accessories for adding personality to the home.

Design and Construction Week 2016

We’re back from another successful Design and Construction Week in Las Vegas and recapped some of our favorite trends and new products. Did you attend the show? We’d love to hear your favorite finds!

Color: Color in the kitchen is not going away, and this year, manufactures introduced softer and pastel colors to their product line-up. From La Cornue’s pink range to the pastel refrigerators by Smeg and Blue Ombre Wall by Thermador, these products are sure to be a hit with designers looking to make a colorful splash in the kitchen.

Black and Mixed Metallics: In addition to the Springy hues, there were also a lot of new products introduced in brushed metallic and one of our favorite colors of the season – Black! Delta’s masculine black faucet and the brass and copper faucets and shower head by Brizo and Oak Hill (DXV) were a few of our favorites.

Texture – We were very impressed by the gorgeous patterns and textured tiles that were at the show this year. Dekton introduced their new color collection and Ann Saks showcased the Kelly Wearstler textured tiles. The Nebbia by Caesarstone resembles a geode-design and will hopefully make its debut in our Showroom!

Zephyr Introduces Two New Hoods In Vertical Style Kitchen Ventilation: Wave and Incline

New Arc Collection Hoods Combine Elegant Design With Powerful Performance

Wave White_4

(pictured above: Wave – white)

We’re excited to announce the launch of Wave and Incline – the newest hoods in our Arc Collection. The Arc Collection is a line of modern range hoods designed in collaboration with Robert Brunner (former Apple Computer designer and designer of the Amazon Kindle, Beats by Dre Headphones, etc.), and are as much about clean air as they are about clean lines. The Wave and Incline feature a vertical style design and are ideal for homeowners looking for a bold design statement in the kitchen.

An elegant vertical-style hood, Wave features a slim profile that complements kitchen décor styles from transitional to modern. The square-shaped hood resembles more of a kitchen art installation than a range hood with its slight tilt and smooth glass panel in black or white; the perfect hood for homeowners that crave an alternative to stainless steel.

The Wave’s Dual Capture Zones collect contaminates through two entry points (back and front) to improve capture performance and ensure a smoke- and debris-free kitchen. In addition, an industry first, tri-level LED light strip illuminates the cooking surface while creating a clean, warm white glow that is evenly distributed on the cooktop. Features include: Multiple Blower Options (Internal 290, 600 CFM, and Inline/External 1,000 CFM), Wireless Remote Control, 3-Speed Capacitive Touch Controls, Recirculating Option, and Optional Duct Cover, 90 cm. (MSRP: $1,899).

The new Incline adds a touch of chic to your kitchen and is the most economical vertical style hood on the market (MSRP: $1,149). Incline is equipped with Perimeter Aspiration, a technique that moves airflow from the central area and evenly distributes it though narrow openings around the perimeter of the hood. This method increases air velocity and improves the capture of cooking contaminates. Perimeter Aspiration ensures the hood will keep the kitchen free of smoke and debris and can handle the most powerful cooking jobs over European- or professional-style ranges.

Incline also features Dual Filtration, which filters cooking contaminates through two entry points (bottom and front) to improve capture. Its multiple blower options (Internal: 290, 600 CFM and In-line/External 1000 CFM) and industry-first, tri-level LED light strip make Incline both stylish and functional for discerning home chefs. Additional features include: Wireless Remote Control, 3-Speed Capacitive Touch Controls, Recirculation Option, and Optional Duct Cover. Color options: Stainless Steel or Powder Coated White with Stainless Steel, 80 cm.

“Our Arc Collection has challenged traditional ventilation design with its bold shapes, colors and features,” says Luke Siow, Zephyr President. “The Wave and Incline are two exciting new hoods in the collection with a modern twist; vertical style design and Perimeter Aspiration are two features that give homeowners the best in both form and function.”

Modular Homes and Furniture: There continues to be a big trend with designers bringing the outdoors inside. There were a lot of creative booth spaces showcasing outdoor products, lighting, “green” modular homes, and the outdoor living section was packed with designers testing out the latest furniture, products, etc.

Pirch Costa Mesa Designer Event with Fu-Tung Cheng

Zephyr was invited to host a designer event last week at the Pirch Costa Mesa location with its Cheng Collection designer, Fu-Tung Cheng. More than 65 designers, architects, and industry professionals gathered to hear Cheng speak about his partnership with Zephyr, House 7 Los Altos Hills Project, and his overall design philosophy. The first 30 attendees also received a signed book by Cheng, “Concrete at Home.”

Pirch is a high-end home store and Zephyr dealer that strives to make the experience of shopping “inspirational and joyful.” The retailer builds stunning, expansive showrooms, baristas greet customers by offering them a custom latte, and shoppers can try out all of the products, including an aromatherapy shower and a heated toilet. Pirch is a pioneer in making its stores a destination when shoppers are increasingly going online.
