Robert Brunner has achieved in the design world what is perhaps the most elusive status: one of true credibility. Early in his career, he took his fascination with high technology products to the next level when he founded Lunar Design. He subsequently became director of industrial design at Apple Computer, designing several game-changing product lines including the Macintosh PowerBook. Next, Brunner became partner in the San Francisco office of Pentagram, leading a team of designers and artists. Alongside his tenure at Pentagram, Brunner launched Fuego, a new concept in outdoor grilling, in partnership with Alex Siow, founder of Zephyr. Following his time at Pentagram, Brunner founded Ammunition Design Group, a product design, brand and interactive development consultancy. Through Ammunition, Brunner has taken his passion for fusing lifestyle with innovation to new heights on several projects, including collaboration with rapper/producer Dr. Dre on the BEATS headset.
Additionally, Brunner has brought his name and talent to Zephyr. The Arc Collection by Zephyr is pure geometry, ingeniously layering glass and metal and bringing a sleek, minimalist aesthetic to the kitchen. Furthermore, Brunner lends his keen eye for design to Zephyr’s groundbreaking Inspire My Kitchen Design Contest (IMKDC), which awards homeowners and professional designers with prizes for incorporating a Zephyr range hood into their kitchen. As a second year veteran on the contest’s expert judging panel, Brunner looks forward to the design-forward body of kitchen entries contestants submit each year. He’s looking for what feels relevant and what aligns well with Zephyr’s high ideals of sculptural expression and simplicity, all executed in an iconic way. Undoubtedly, Brunner’s creative partnership with Zephyr is also iconic.
